39, a resident of 332 Owens St., Stovall, transitioned on Monday, February 24 in Wake Forest.

He is Survived by his wife, Christie Elkerson Smith;  three children, Christiaana Elkerson-Smith, Samone Smith and Derrick Smith, Jr. all of Oxford; a God-daughter Jada Daniels also of Oxford; his parents, Derrick Rena Smith and Esther Owens Smith both of Stovall; a sister, Deneka Smith of Stovall; three brothers, Stanley Smith, Johnny Thorpe and Carlton Thorpe all of Oxford; his maternal grandmother, Esther Mozell Owens and paternal grandmother, Marie B. Smith both of Stovall, and a nephew, Bryant Burton.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 3 at 3 pm at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. A viewing is scheduled for Sunday, March 2 from 5pm-7pm at Wright Funeral Home.
