74, a native of Oxford, and a resident of Richmond, VA, died Thursday, June 8 at his home, following a valiant fight with health complications. Dallas was born September 24, 1948 in Oxford, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Elnora Marrow Dickey and Dallas James Dickie, Sr.. He was the oldest of four children. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Price Dickey.

Dallas, lovingly known by many as "Mole", loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Growing up in Oxford, he was a charismatic and outgoing person. He attended the former Mary Potter Academy. He had a love for music, and a gift for singing. Fond memories of him singing songs by Al Green, the Commodores and all the Motown artists are forever embedded in our hearts.  Dallas knew no strangers; he had a signature greeting "What's up, Bob?" that would hilarious lighten even the worst of times. Personal and genuine in his remarks, his sense of humor carried an aura of energy and good vibes.

In 1969, he moved to Washington, DC where he lived for thirty-four years. While there he worked for the District of Columbia Metro System for over ten years. In 2003, after being medically retired, Dallas relocated to Richmond, Virginia, where he resided for twenty years with his daughters, Latoya and Victoria until he passed. He was often referred to as "The life of the Party", his energy, sense of humor and calm demeanor was well received and enjoyed by all. He was a good man, with a good heart, but wasn't "good, good" until he responded to a clear presentation of the Gospel shared with him through his sister, Daphine. Despite mounting health concerns he became hopeful and was at peace, as he accepted Christ as his Savior in March of 2022 at the age of seventy-three. A father of seven, one son and six daughters, he was blessed to witness over three generations of offspring.

He is survived by his seven children: a son, Dallas "Boonie" James Dickey, Jr.; six daughters, .Angela Price, LaVonda Edwards Price, Lawanda Patterson, Crystal Mills, Latoya "Toy" Washington and Victoria "Vicky" Washington; eleven grandchildren, Lenijah Gills, Tempest Gillis-Jackson, Jerome Parker, Jovan Gillis, Amber Gillis, Lycess Dickey, Melissa Price, Michelle Price, Dwight Price, Dakotah Edwards and Keelan Gibson; fourteen great grandchildren, Semaje Gillis, Simone Gills, Sinclair Gillis, Tekeira Jackson, Teleal Jackson, Tekyh Gillis, Khole Gillis, Delonte Tinney, Jr., Harmony Penny, Jovan Gillis, Khaza, Melique Gillis, Jada Parker and Chase Parker; two sisters, Dalphine Blake(Oscar) and Joyce Barrett (George); two brothers, Willard W.E. Dickey (Wanda) and Walter Alford; a vast number of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and life-long caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 17 at 1pm at Wright Funeral Home Chapel , 3724 Salem Road, Oxford, NC 27565 by Pastor Quinton Dickey. Burial will be in the Dickey Family plot in Cheatham Memorial Cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more will be observed.
