63, a resident of 821 Hanson Road, Durham, died Sunday, Sept. 23 at his home. He was the son of the late John D. Puryear and Alzada Hicks Puryear. He was a member of New Hope Granville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Bullock Puryear; a son, Charles Puryear, Jr. of Durham; four brothers, Ronnie Puryear of Knightdale, Harold Puryear of Henderson, Antony Puryear of Rayford, and Reggie Hicks of Oxford; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 29 at 1:00 P.M. at New Hope Granville Baptist Church by Rev. James Issac III. Burial will be in Huntsville Baptist Church cemetery. A viewing is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28 from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the church and at other times at 4120 Edenton Lane in Durham.
