75, a native of Oxford, died Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Pleasantville, NJ. She was the daughter of the late James Parker and Jeanette Parker.

At the age of sixteen the family relocated to Atlantic City, New Jersey, which quickly became her home. Being the oldest of her siblings, Barnetta could often be found helping her family by doing chores or running errands. Throughout her life she enjoyed spending time with them.

On April 8, 1967 she would wed Preston Harmon. Their marriage produced three children, Preston, Jr., Tyrone and Veta. The marriage would endure for fifty-five years and play a key role in the sterling personalities of their five grandchildren: Hakeem, Ramal, Aliyah, Abdul and Tatyana. Whenever their grands needed anything they were never greeted with a closed fist but rather an open hand and a loving heart. Barnetta was, and continues to be the superlative example of a grandmother.

An alum of Atlantic City High School, She was last employed with Island Cleaners. In her spare time she could be found cooking, or hanging with her family, which were her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed traveling, listening to music and watching old western television shows like "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke".

From her constant pranks to her warm generous nature, Barnetta will be immensely missed by her family. We all owe her a debt of gratitude - greater than she would ever claim or we will ever know. She will sorely be missed by her daughter, Veta, who showed her mother so much love during her time of need. Grandma's love will blanket our family - forever.

Barnetta is survived by her husband, Preston Harmon, Sr.; her firstborn son, Preston Harmon, Jr.; her loving daughter, Veta Harmon-Brown (Richard) of Atlantic City, NJ; five grandchildren; Hakeem Harmon of Forestville, MD, and Aliyah Harmon (Taron) and Abdul Fletcher both of Mays Landing, NJ Ramal Pittman of Florida and Tatyana Brown of Egg Harbor Township; brothers, Brent Rogers of Atlantic City, NJ and Corey Rivers of Trenton, NJ; sister-in-law, Robyn Parker; along with a host of great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and many nieces and nephews, including Yvonne Parker (Robert), Yvette Harper and Delphia Harper.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 3 at Faith Baptist Church in Pleasantville, NJ. Interment was in Lincoln Memorial Park in Mays Landing, NJ.
