Alver Lee
Harris
Dec 10, 1958 — Oct 17, 2021
CHANGE OF VENUE
62, a resident of 6012 Pinetown Road, died Sunday, Oct. 17 at his home. He was the son of the late Clifton Harris, Sr. and Christine Margaret Downey Harris.
He professed Christ at an early age and joined New Hope Granville Baptist Church and was an active member of the Usher Board and assistant Youth Sunday School Teacher. Later in life he transitioned his membership to New Zion Apostolic Church in Piscataway, New Jersey. Currently he was fellowshipping with Cornerstone Christian Community Church, Greater Harvest Full Gospel Baptist Church and Greater Grace Kingdom Dominion Church.
Alvin was a proud graduate of J. F. Webb High School. Upon graduation he continued his education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University (A&T, Greensboro, NC) where he studied Business Administration. He exemplified "Aggie Pride". Although a true "Aggie" , he was also a UNC Tarheel fan. After returning home from college he began his career in the stock room at Northern Telecom in 1985. Later being promoted to an AutoCAD Engineer. After twenty years as an engineer he changed his career to Pharmaceuticals where he worked for Eisai and Merck before he retired in 2015.
He never met a stranger. With anyone he would come into contact with he would always greet you with "Praise the Lord" and would speak "Peace unto your home" as he entered. He was sure to light up any room. Alver was knoen to have extended conversations with anyone - there were no strangers with him. You could hear him a mile away and he was cooler than a fan. He was like a brother to us all. He never lost his faith, even in his sickness. We are conforted in knowing that he is with the Lord.
Alver leaves to continue his legacy, a son, Justin Adam Harris of Durham, North Carolina; a daughter, Aleah Brielle Harris of Oxford, North Carolina; one grandchild, Peyton Brielle Harris; a sister, Annette Berger (Kerley) of Newark, New Jersey; three brothers, Calvin Harris, Sr. (Carolyn), Alvis Harris and Reverend Jerry Harris (Alice) all of Oxford, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Harris of Oxford, North Carolina; a vast number of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends.
