85, a resident of 125 Franklin Street, died Wednesday, September 16 at Universal Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Roy Jones and Edna Lee Speed Jones.

She was a life-long member of New Hope Granville Baptist Church where she was one of the original members of the Chancellors Choir.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Steed, Jr. of Oxford and Roy Steed (Cassandra) of Little Rock, Arkansas; a daughter, Shirley Steed of Henderson; six grandchildren, Ebony Steed, Aaron Steed, Micah Steed, Myah Steed, Kaisea Steed and Antoine Steed; a great granddaughter, Sarai Hart; four sisters, Viola Stewart (James) of Montclair, NJ, Pattie Fippens (Melvin) of Newark, NJ, Pauline Edwards of West Orange, NJ, Mary J. Satterwhite (Harold) of Oxford; two brothers, Herman Jones (Christine) and William Jones (Joan) both of Oxford; and a brother-in-law, Rev. James L. Hester of Oxford.

She was predeceased by two grandsons, Derek Steed and Javon Steed; a great granddaughter, Cora Steed; a sister, Bettie J. Hester and a brother, Roy Jones, Jr.

A memorial service will be conducted post-Corvid-19.
