96, a resident of 4045 Salem Road, died Sunday, Nov. 13 in New Bern. He was the son of the late Rev. Alexander Williams, Sr. and Daisy Mckenney Williams of Rock Hill, SC. He was a retired Teacher and a United States Navy veteran.

He was a 1943 graduate of Marbough County High School in Bennettsville, SC and Livingstone College in Salisbury. He earned a Masters Degree in Science from North Carolina University in Durham. He was a former member of Big Zion Church in Oxford and presently a member of Kesler Temple AME Zion Church in Henderson, American Legion, and the North Carolina Association of Educators. He was employed with the Granville County Board of Education for over thirty-six years

He is survived by a daughter, Wandanne Williams of Loganville, GA; two sons, Eric C. Williams of the home and Alexander Williams, III (Brenda) of New Bern; three grandchildren, Krystle Tarpley (Curtis), Trinity Herbin, and Bobbie Herbin; and one great granddaughter, Skaii Tapley; and one nephew, Michael Bass.

He was predeceased by his wife, Annie.

Rev. Lawrence R. White will conduct funeral services on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 12pm at Kesler Temple AME Zion Church, 426 E. Winder Street in Henderson. A viewing has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 25 from 4pm-6pm at Wright Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

The family request that Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more be observed.
