67, a resident of 4048 Salem Road, died Sunday, Oct. 31 at Duke Medical Center. He was the son of Carrie Frances Henderson Jones and the late Elvin Jones, Sr.

He was a member of of United Fellowship Christian Church where he served as a Trustee, a member of the Usher Board, sang in the Mate Chorus and was the groundskeeper. A quite and descent man, he never refused giving a helping hand. He was an avid fisherman and an accomplished craftsman at building miniture buildings.

He is survived by his mother, Carrie Frances Henderson Jones of Oxford; nine sisters, Catherine Wilkins (Clarence), Cora Peace (McDonald), Katrina Williams, Darlene Jones, Carla Daye (Michael), Grace Harrison (Edward), Helen White (Tyrone) and Lisa Jones; seven brothers, Antonio Jones (Marie), Wesley Jones, Emmanuel Jones, Floyd Jones, Larry Jones (Beverly), Elvin Jones, Jr. and Edward Alston (Carolyn); a vast number of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends.

Six brothers preceded him in death: Roy Lee Jones, Ricky Throckmorton, Leander Henderson, Jasper Jones, Kemuel Jones and Mark Jones.

Rev. Jeanette Paschall will conduct services Thursday, Nov. 4 at 2pm at Wright Funeral Home Chapel. A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 4pm-6pm at Wright Funeral Home. Service will be limited to fifty attendees. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park. All services will observe Covid-19 protocols of facial coverings and social distancing of six feet or more.
